19 Vietnamese banks entered the Top 500 strongest banks in Asia - Pacific region: Surprisingly, the leading position, not Vietcombank, Techcombank or MB

Previously, in 2021, Vietcombank and Techcombank were the two Vietnamese banks with the highest rankings in The Asian banker's Top 500 ranking.

The Asian Banker recently announced the ranking of 500 strongest banks in the Asia-Pacific region, in which 19 Vietnamese commercial banks and 1 foreign bank in Vietnam entered the list.

The 500 list was selected by The Asian Banker based on the strength of the banks' balance sheets, with a number of criteria such as profitability, risk management, asset quality, liquidity, etc.

Some indicators that account for a large proportion are considered such as total assets, capital adequacy ratio (CAR), bad debt ratio,...

There are 3 Vietnamese banks in the Top 100, namely TPBank (in 61st position), Vietcombank (in 66th position), MB (in 72nd position). In addition, foreign bank - HSBC Vietnam also entered the Top 100 with 95th place.

The next banks in the Top 500 are Techcombank (101), BIDV (127), VietinBank (139), ACB (145), Agribank (190), MSB (197), OCB (233), SCB (245), SeABank (313), HDBank (329), LienVietPostBank (335), SHB (348), VIB (354), VPBank (373), Sacombank (392), Eximbank (418).

Compared to last year (2021), the list of Vietnamese banks in the Top 500 of the region has added a new face, OCB. Not only that, OCB's ranking is also quite high, ranking 233rd in the Top 500 and 10th out of 19 Vietnamese banks in the ranking.

In addition, TPBank surprised to move from the 7th position among Vietnamese banks in 2021 to the top in the ranking in 2022 because this bank has high scores in many criteria such as capital adequacy ratio, profitability, asset quality, liquidity, etc. Before that, in 2021, Vietcombank was the highest ranked Vietnamese bank, followed by Techcombank and VietinBank.
