TPBank brings Apple Pay to Customers

A safer, more secure and private way to pay with iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac

Tien Phong Commercial Joint Stock Bank (TPBank) today brings its customers Apple Pay, a safer, more secure and private way to pay that helps customers avoid handing their payment card to someone else, touching physical buttons or exchanging cash — and uses the power of iPhone to protect every transaction.

To use Apple Pay in stores, customers simply double click and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment.1 Every Apple Pay purchase is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, as well as a transaction-specific, one-time unique dynamic security code. Apple Pay is accepted in grocery stores, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, and many more places.

For more than 10 millions TPBank customers, 60% of which are using iOS, Apple Pay attracts high attention from most of them. The launch of Apple Pay will meet the demand of these young customers, who are tech savvy and love convenience. 

Additionally, the highlight in the experience journey of Apple Pay with TPBank can be seen clearly with the bank’s  virtual card issuance process. With their 100% online card pre-approval and virtual issuance system via TPBank Mobile App and the ease to open a card in 500 TPBank LiveBank hubs which operate 24/7 all over Vietnam, customers do not need to wait for their new physical cards to be delivered through post office, but receive their virtual (debit or credit) cards instantly on TPBank App, add their just-issued cards into Apple Pay via TPBank App or Apple Wallet. For those customers who already have an account and transaction history with TPBank, the process of credit card issuance will be even faster. Based on the credibility of customers, TPBank will automatically grant a credit limit. As soon as they register to open a new credit card on TPBank App, their credit limit will be approved and their card is ready to use instantly. After adding cards, customers can start making payment and enjoy cash back for their first transaction with Apple Pay.

Customers can also use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to make faster and more convenient purchases in apps or on the web in Safari without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. Apple Pay makes it easier to pay for food and grocery deliveries, online shopping, transportation, and travel, among other things. Apple Pay can also be used to make payments in apps on Apple Watch.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When customers use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store the payment information safely on the device.

Apple Pay is easy to set up. On iPhone, simply open the Wallet app, tap +, and follow the steps to add TPBank’s credit or debit cards. Customers can also add their TPBank credit and debit cards to Apple Pay from the TPBank Mobile app.

Additionally, customers will also be able to apply for a virtual debit or credit card through the TPBank Mobile App, and have it instantly issued and added to Apple Pay.

Once a customer adds a card to iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac, they can start using Apple Pay on that device right away. Customers will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by TPBank’s cards.
