TPBank Technology Scholarship: Incubating projects for the community

27/09/2022

Accompanying Fulbright in the mission of serving society by leading the future generation, from 2021, TPBank STEM technology scholarships have been awarded to students with excellent academic achievements to realize their scientific research projects serving the community with high feasibility.

At the opening ceremony of the new school year at Fulbright University, Mr. Le Huynh Hoa - Deputy Director of TPBank's Human Resource Management Division presented the bank's scholarships to excellent students majoring in technology (STEM) at the university. school.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Le Huynh Hoa said: “With the position of the leading digital bank in Vietnam, the investment choice for STEM students is one of TPBank's long-term strategies in its goal. human resource development. We hope that this scholarship package will create more conditions for them to realize scientific research projects to serve the community.”

Having passed many rounds of rigorous selection, evaluation and consideration from the scholarship review board, this year 5 students were named. Each student will receive $2,000 for their study and research at the school.

This scholarship package is part of TPBank's $50,000 scholarship agreement with Fulbright University signed in 2020. After nearly two years of implementation, 10 students have received bank scholarships and research projects. Your scientific research has reaped the first sweet fruits. Their projects are displayed and simulated at MakerSpace, leaving many impressions and interesting experiences for visitors about the good scientific values of the project.

Let's take a look at a few projects that received scholarships from TPBank this school year:

Le Hoang Phuc with Project “VNTurtle”

Mr. Le Huynh Hoa and Le Hoang Phuc - the founders of the "VNTurtle" Project at the exhibition

Currently a final year student at Fulbright University Vietnam, Hoang Phuc is studying Computer Science majoring in Artificial Intelligence. With a passion for research around the application of artificial intelligence to contribute to wildlife conservation, Hoang Phuc has developed the VNTurtle project - a smart application that uses computer vision to help people identifies 26 species of native turtles that are endangered because of poaching and illegal trade. Through this, the conservation of tortoise and freshwater turtles in Vietnam will be more effective and attract the attention of the community, contributing to raising social awareness.

Nguyen Huynh Phuc An with the project "Optimizing drugs for insomnia"

Phuc An is a student in the group of Integrative Sciences, who received a scholarship for a research project on optimizing drugs for insomnia. In order to be able to do the most comprehensive research on many active ingredients in Vietnamese herbal medicine with high efficiency, Phuc An used computers, namely calculation tools, programming skills to support the process. The study aimed to determine the binding energy between many active ingredients in Vietnamese herbs and neuroproteins that are decisive for human sleep.

Huynh Tam Minh Hieu with the project "Change in chemical properties"

Although only a 3rd year student, Minh Hieu has participated in many research projects in groups and individuals with the guideline "Knowledge is only useful when applied in life to help the community".

Although "machine learning" is capable of predicting Lewis chemical bond analyzes based on "molecular indices", the process of approaching major contributory indicators in molecular structure design is still a challenge. puzzling problem. Minh Hieu will focus on studying the change in the chemical properties of base Lewises when bonded with a specific acidic Lewis. The data from the above change were obtained from calculations using "the most fundamental laws of molecules, atoms". Various “machine learning” models and corresponding “data dimensionality reduction algorithms” are used to filter out the “molecular indices” that are important for variations in the properties of objects. Lewis statue was surveyed. Those parameters are used as a premise to create high molecular structure design indicators.

Nguyen Hoang Nam Anh with the project "Building software as a legacy time machine"

With a solid foundation of knowledge when studying Computer Science at Fulbright, Nam Anh wishes to contribute research and development in the field of Digital Humanities to Ho Chi Minh City. Nam Anh will build a software that acts as a platform to store people and a "time machine" for heritage.

Users can upload historical data collections that include multimedia data such as documents, genealogy, manuscripts, photographs, video or audio. In addition, the system will also use computer vision to reconstruct the national heritage of the 19th century in time, space and information. The National Archives Center II and information from the people's archive platform will provide data for this "time machine". When deployed and put into use, the project promises to create positive effects in enriching the national historical data source and bring to the young generation of Vietnam and the world multi-dimensional perspectives on the world. cultural heritage of the country.

Nguyen Ha Linh Tu with the project on gastritis

Linh Tu has a special passion for Epidemiology. From the opportunities to interact and work with lecturers, doctors and researchers for nearly 5 years, Linh Tu understands the difficulties of experts and wishes to one day contribute her strength. participate in improving public health.

Tu was awarded a scholarship for the topic "Research on S.Typhimurium gastroenteritis in vulnerable groups to improve the infectious disease surveillance system". The study contributes to building a common health data set, continuously updating biomedical and clinical data, analyzing and determining the possibility of potential disease outbreaks among vulnerable populations in Vietnam in the future. future, thereby, supporting scientists with data to provide in-depth research directions and timely solve the epidemic.
