TPBank is the Vietnam bank with the widest QR code payment network in Southeast Asia

Following the successful implementation of QR code payments in Thailand and Cambodia, the next country where TPBank customers can enjoy this convenient payment method has been added. With just a smartphone and the TPBank app, purchasing goods overseas has become much simpler and easier.

Recently, the ceremony announcing the bilateral QR code retail payment connection between Vietnam and Cambodia was held within the framework of the bilateral conference between the State Bank of Vietnam and the National Bank of Cambodia. The National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) and ACLEDA Bank of Cambodia have successfully completed a pilot connectivity test for retail payments using QR codes between the two countries.

With the successful implementation of this connection, customers of 57 Cambodian banks when visiting Vietnam can scan VietQR code through the Bakong app to make purchases at TPBank’s payment acceptance points - one of the first Vietnamese banks to deploy the service, to pay from their Cambodian Riel account (KHR). Conversely, Vietnamese tourists who are customers of TPBank when visiting Cambodia can also use the mobile app to make QR code payments at about 1.8 million payment acceptance points in Cambodia.

At the event, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong used the TPBank Mobile application to make a souvenir purchase transaction directly at a store in a hotel in Cambodia. The entire successful purchase payment process was simple and convenient.

Cambodia is the second country where TPBank customers can make cross-border payments. In 2021, TPBank was the pioneer bank to allow cross-border payments between Thailand and Vietnam through QR code scanning. Now, Vietnamese people traveling for business or tourism to Thailand and Cambodia do not have to worry about exchanging money for the time spent in these two countries with high fees and sometimes unsafe.
