Here is a list of private banks that currently have more than 10 million customers
Currently, in addition to the Big 4 (Vietcombank, VietinBank, Agribank, BIDV) and MB, many private banks have also surpassed the 10 million customer mark. TPBank reached this milestone 2 years ago.
In recent years, thanks to digital transformation and the adoption of technology, the customer base of many banks has grown rapidly. According to data from the State Bank of Vietnam, by the end of 2023, the percentage of adults with a bank account had reached 87.08%. At many banks, the growth in new customers in recent years could equal the total growth of the previous decade. Therefore, it is not surprising that some mid-sized banks have reached customer bases comparable to those of larger banks. Currently, besides the Big 4 (Vietcombank, VietinBank, Agribank, BIDV) and MB, many private banks have also surpassed the 10 million customer mark.
TPBank surpassed 10 million customers two years ago. Now, the bank’s customer base has grown to nearly 14 million. In 2023, TPBank recorded an additional 3.5 million new accounts, bringing the total number of customers to over 12 million. In just three years, TPBank has attracted more than 8.6 million customers, doubling the total customer base of the previous 12 years within TPBank’s digital financial ecosystem.
With the advancement of technology and the changing habits of users, attracting new customers is still growing very strongly. Opening a bank account has become much easier, with online identification (eKYC) allowing customers to skip the need to visit a branch or physical office. However, attracting a large number of customers is just the beginning. In the increasingly fierce competition for market share, banks are facing a bigger challenge: retaining customers and encouraging them to use more services. To achieve this, banks need to continually improve service quality, personalize the customer experience, and build long-term relationships. The rate of active customers and the average value per customer are the clearest indicators of the success of these strategies.
